OHG Supporting Agility Canines via the AGILE (Agility Innovations Leveraging Electronics) Grant

American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation Sports Medicine project: AGILE

Ohio State University: Dr. Arielle Pechette Markley

Georgia Institute of Technology: Dr. Melody Jackson

Dog agility is a sport in which dogs are evaluated based on their ability to navigate through obstacles with precision and speed under the direction of their handlers. While dog agility has been an increasingly popular sport worldwide, the injury rate among agility competitors has also risen over the years. Despite the increase in injury rates among agility dogs, little is known about the risk factors associated with the injuries. Agility handlers need a reliable, accurate way to measure and monitor athlete activity to help reduce the high incidence of injury in agility dogs.

OHG enthusiastically supports the efforts of Dr. Arielle Pechette Markley and Dr. Melody Jackson for AGILE: a program designed to improve the health and welfare of canine agility athletes. OHG is looking forward to collaborating on this project by providing up to fifty (50) of our current generation Voyce health monitors and access to the raw data in support to this study, providing context-based, clinically-actionable information in a safe, comfortable, non-skin-contact wearable, with the ability for the collected data to be displayed on a mobile device, or a cloud-based dashboard.
